Ryli- Ascension IX “Design A Sith” Challenge

Wow, man, can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve posted anything here. My creative “get up and go” has been kind of hurting lately, namely due to the fact that I’m having a lot of trouble finding a steady job, and freelance design work is keeping me busy but not paid.

Anyway, here’s a Sith!

Story and pic for the “Design a Sith” Ascension IX challenge over at DRAW OR DIE. This was a lot of fun to work on. 🙂 I haven’t written anything in quite a while, so it was a complete hoot to come up with a short backstory for this girl. I had the rough idea in my mind when I started the character, and fleshed it out as I went along. I may actually use the story for another character whenever I sit down and start working on my “IP.” (God that sounds so pretentious to me.)

Ryli was a young girl when she was taken from her home planet of Zeltros and sold into the service of Zane, a Dark Lord of the Sith known for his vile temper and debauchery. Zane sensed her growing powers and plotted to use her against the resurgence of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Order. Through years of torment and conditioning at the hands of such a cunning Darth, Ryli’s Force powers reached critical mass and at last she struck down her captor.

Keeping her slave collar and chains as a reminder of her trials, Ryli sought out Master Luke Skywalker at his Order’s new base of operations on Yavin IV, the abandoned moon base from which the Rebellion carried out the destruction of the first Death Star.

She hoped to rid herself of the horror of her existence and become a Jedi, a protector of innocence and order, but the insidious machinations of Darth Zane bore a poisoned fruit, and the dark powers of the ancient Massassi temples drove her murderously insane. Now, Master Skywalker is the only power left to stop her before the Jedi Order is once again rendered extinct.

And just for grins, here’s a gallery of progress shots.
