Ole Miss Engineering cover sketch

This is a cover sketch for the upcoming yearly issue of Ole Miss Engineer, a magazine I put together for the University of Mississippi’s School of Engineering. With all the hubbub about the Curiosity rover, the higher-ups decided that they wanted a piece that would sort of reflect that. Obviously, it’s based on “Mohawk Guy” Bobak Ferdowsi, an engineer on the Curiosity team. The main focus in this issue is the unconventional next generation of engineers in the U.S…it’s no longer a bunch of stuffy, nerdy white guys (their stereotype, not mine).

Used myself and my office as ref for this. I figure the desk will be a lot more cluttered, with all sorts of modern tech and space and aeronautical doodads scattered about.

Hopefully this will get the go-ahead, as I’m not exactly having a dearth of ideas for this theme. I’ve only got about a week to turn it around, so I gotta get rolling.
