A Carousel for Missoula

There’s a giant hand-carved carousel here in Missoula, MT, that my son absolutely adores, so I figured a few months ago that I’d paint a pic of him on his favorite horse. Took some refs one day while we were out and away we went.

It’s unfinished, and I didn’t get the likeness very close, but I like the overall composition and color scheme of this one. I should really go back and polish it up one of these days. It’s still missing some horse silhouettes in the background and a few poles. Needs to be smoothed out a bit better in areas as well. But what the heck, eh? I sort of like the roughness of it. (That’s my wishy-washiness coming out, if you can’t tell.)

Photoshop CS5, Wacom Cintiq 21UX, about 5 hours.

Thanks for lookin’!

P.S. You might notice, I changed the site around a bit. I like this template a lot better 🙂
